Libra New Moon Eclipse 2024
The love affair I have with the moon & her energy is actually quite intense. The way that she looks at me from way up in the night sky, leading me, guiding me to where I feel most aligned isn’t lost on me. In fact, I was so in love with the moon, for a while my business was named after my moon sign; Cancer Moon Medium. At the time it felt incredibly aligned with my business and what I was offering my ideal client.
Now, I work with the moon for my own intentions & healing journey. I love connecting with her on my own terms without the added pressure of sharing it with others. Although, we do have a powerhouse moon coming up this week and I just have to share it with you so you can also dabble in it’s wonderful energy.
The thing about the moon…
Is that it holds potent energetics that you can tap into at anypoint of the moon’s cycle (month). the one thing that I was drawn too with the moon was how you can combine the energy of the phase and the zodiac it’s in along with a few other fancy astrology terms & have yourself some intense support for what you’re experiencing. Given that sometimes the moon is the reason why you’re experiencing something, when you know how to utilise the energy, it becomes your partner in crime, rather than something you’re challenged by,
So what’s up with this New Moon? I’ll tell ya - and I’ll make it simple & practical.
Libra is the zodiac sign this New Moon Eclipse is in. It’s potent because our current astrology axis is sitting at Aries/Libra, meaning that the horizontal energy we’ve been living in for the last sixish months has been this beautiful mix of fire & air. Libra represents all things beauty, balance, law & purity. It’s literally represented by the scales & like to even the playing field. So for example, if you’ve been working your ass off the last few weeks, you’re probably in need of some self-love. Depending on where Libra sits in your birth chart, you can be feeling this energy in a certain House (a house in astrology is an area of your life). If you’re interested in finding out more, you can search your birth chart using this link. You’ll need your birth date, time & place.
Now in saying all of this about Libra, it means that what doesn’t align with you or balance you out has to go. Eclipse seasons & what happens during this time can shape your future six months. This is why it’s vital that you’re at least doing something on the eclipse - even watching it happen can be a little ritual that you do - we’ll get to that later.
A New Moon Phase usually brings New Beginnings - this is what is all over social media, however I have a different take on this. You can take what resonates & leave what doesn’t. My take on New Moons is that the sky is dark and in darkness shadows tend to appear. This is an open invitation for you to begin to set intentions, yes, however also work on the fears that come with these new intentions. When something is new to you and you’re not 100% sure of where you’re going, or what you’re doing, naturally you’ll have some fears, shadows, stories or limiting beliefs around what it is you’re setting your intention on. This is okay. The darkness of the sky, allows you to move inward, to assess where you’re at, how your last new moon went & how you feel about setting your new intentions. This is where the magic happens because you’re clearing the slate for what isn’t for you & what is meant for you. Is my thinking orthodox? Probably, but why do we co-relate the New Moon to the Menstruation phase of a women’s cycle? Menstruation literally means to month & moon, so why don’t we take from what history has told us all along? The New Moon is to go inwards, to sit within the darkness (the sky is always dark on a new moon) and explore the shadows that we so often hide away from. Now that I’ve blown your mind, let’s see what you can do this New Moon Eclipse in Libra.
New Moon Eclipse in Libra Rituals:
1. Write out a list of your New Intentions for the next six months. Yes six months.
What fears, concerns & stories come up as I write out my desires? Take note of these; just observe the feelings that come up with them too & write them down on paper you can rip up & burn. The burning of the fears is something that helps with cleansing & clearing away these fears. This way you’re clearing the slate to make room for your new intentions. (You can’t take aligned steps forward if you’re thinking you’re not worthy. Like attracts like. if that’s what you’re thinking as you write it down then honey, you’re just attracting lessons that make you feel less than.)
2. Journal prompts to get you reconnected with yourself.
What do you desire for yourself in the next six months?
What are your relationships like in all areas of your life, most importantly, what’s your relationship like with yourself?
Tune into your boundaries & how you’ve respected them in the last six months? Do they need some fine tuning? If so, where? How are you going to implement this over the next six months, ensuring you’re checking in every so often?
3. Moon Gazing
Literally, get outside and stare at the moon. Put that phone away. Be present.
4. Moon Water
After writing your intentions on paper, & you’ve worked through the fears. Make a bottle of filtered water & place it outside or on a window ledge under the moon with your intentions under the bottle. You want to put it in a place where no bugs will get in as you want to keep the lid off the bottle, so the moon energy gets in there. Drink it over the next few days with your end goal in mind.
5. Bath, self-care, love yourself
Take this one however way you please. I don’t have a bath at home, but if I did - OFFT, I’d get some rose petals, some essential oils like lemon, wild orange, passion and place it all in the bath with some magnesium salts & bath it on up. I do have a shower & will be doing something of this sort tonight. This is embracing the Libra energy. Remember Libra is all about beauty, take sometime out of your day this week to literally love yourself.
Let me know how you all go if you try any of these out!
Love, Monica.
